Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
8:00 –8:30 a.m. Morning Meeting:
Children need/want “rituals” or consistency that they can depend upon. Each morning will begin essentially the same with them gathering around the teacher to sing a song, talk about plan of the day, and/or Show ‘n Tell activity.
8:30-9:30 Children’s Choice:
Children select from a menu of child-initiated activities (opportunities to manipulate, explore, experiment, problem-solve, make choices, and develop new skills) as they socialize with their peers and with their primary teacher. The teacher will draw from the children what their interests are for the time. Children’s attention spans are short. They need a constant exchange between passive and active activities. The brain engages more when there is novelty and an enriched environment --but not over-stimulating-- in which to play. The brain naturally seeks patterns, thus problem solving begins.
9:30-10:00 Morning Snack
10:00–11:30 The Learning Carousel:
The brain is more receptive to information and pays closer attention to information when things are new and different. For that reason, during this time period, children will rotate to a different classroom and to a different teacher. Teachers will teach developmentally appropriate lessons that actively engage children in a wide variety of experiences: child-initiated, teacher-directed, large group, small group, indoor, outdoor, quiet and active. Children are allowed to practice and reflect on what they have learned before moving to another room.
11:30-12:00 Lunch:
Return to Home Classroom for Lunch. Teachers will eat with their children and assist them with clean up.
12:00-1:00: Outside Play/Playtrium:

3:15-4:00 Day’s End Meeting:
In preparation for going home, teachers assist children in gather belongings, artwork to go home, say good bye to friends, etc. The teacher will also use this time to relate prior learning to future learning, i.e., talk about what we learned today and what we will do tomorrow.
